FEATURED ATTRACTION:

The death of a comic book icon and legend is the climax to this storyline, as well as the Captain America film franchise.

It was not just a sad day for comic book fans, but it will also mark a sad day for movie fans as well.

Treachery, deceit and lies are what do indeed darken the landscape of the film, and personally… it cheapens the films quality. Captain America is ultimately duped by the convoluted plan against him.

The very thing that sickened me as a comic book fan (and a Captain America fan as well) is the very thing that spells the demise for this franchise. Captain America is played for a chump, we can all see it coming… and are helpless to do anything about it.

This is the legendary hero, which survived the end of WWII in a block of ice, was thawed and adjusted to a new age. He has survived countless assaults from megalomaniacal, ultra powerful supervillians… but is done in by a lone, terrorist’s gun?

Does anyone else see the irony in that?

Captain America deserved much better than that, both in the comics and on the big screen as well. The once shining shield of liberty and symbol of freedom that was Captain America is now, forever tarnished.

Will CAPTAIN AMERICA: DESTINY fare well in the box office? Probably. Will I be happy about it? I can safely say… NO!!!

ALSO, FROM THE VIDEO VAULT OF CRAZY MOON PICTURES…

This was the original in the CAPTAIN AMERICA saga, and it is still perhaps… the absolute best.

Rarely does a sequel do as well as the original, but there are exceptions.

This film is Captain America at his “larger than life” best. For me, it’s also the “measuring stick” that all other superhero films have to measure up to.

This film is a fine treasure of a motion picture, and deserves a viewing once again. Personally, I would like to see this film someday re-released on the big screen… it is just that good. Containing a great ensemble cast, Heath Ledger just brought the role to life for me on the big screen, and this DVD has a great replay value.

You just can never get enough of this film, and I recommend, if you get the chance…

BUY IT!!!

NOW AVAILABLE ON DVD:

Although the studio got what it expected from this film (since musicals are rather fickle, in the box office), I personally expected a much better box office return from CAROUSEL. The classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical show should have seen a much better box office showing.

All in all though, this was a solid rendition of the classic, and personally TED FROATS should be proud of this screenplay. He did a fantastic job in writing the adaptation of this classic for the big screen, and I was extremely happy to have seen this done the right way. Jim Carrey and Claire Danes… what a great pairing for a casting choice, and it’s going to make things hard to decide at the Golden Moon Awards nomination time.

This film was just so well done, and in my opinion…

BUY IT!!!

Although I always expect big things from John Carpenter (who, BTW is probably one of my top five favorite directors), I wasn’t particularly surprised about the box office draw here.

Okay, the film concept just kind of gave me “the creeps”!

This was a solid production, and a good casting job. The only problem is that John Carpenter seems to be stuck in the “big budget but B-movie quality” film production mode.

All in all though, if you like your films with a B-movie horror feel…

RENT IT!!!

ALSO COMING TO A THEATER NEAR YOU, FROM CRAZY MOON PICTURES…

KING OF THE WORLD… I don’t think so.

Okay, I think that despite the title of the film; it’s actually not a bad film. Matthew Perry and Vince Vaughn are a pretty solid choice. Eva Mendes as the “love interest”, that was not so good a choice.

Personally, I feel that she is just not all that believable in the role, as the woman that these two men are hot for. Is it any wonder that the two men leave her behind in the end?

Not to me it isn’t, and it probably won’t be for you, either.

Okay, all that kidding aside… KING OF THE WORLD falls short in my opinion, because of Eva Mendes. It’s just not a good choice. Her acting seems almost mechanical at times, and it has all intensity and desire that is possessed by a “block of wood”.

Well, I know that I am probably being a little harsh here, but if there was an award for “least desirable actress”… Eva Mendes would probably be near the top of the list (at least the top five anyway).

Eva Mendes drags the casting score way down here.
