BEST DIRECTOR
Maybe, with 14 categories now, some GMA’s records will be broken soon. But, until them, here are the directors of two record-breakers movies. One of them directed the most awarded movie ever at the GMA, the musical ‘Carousel’. The other, directed one of the most nominated movies ever, the historical adventure ‘Pompeii’. And they are Sam Mendes and GMA Winner James Cameron!
J.C.: It is a honour to be here tonight to pay tribute to the brilliant directors nominated tonight.
S.M.: Those three colleagues have given us all a lesson on moviemaking and deserve very much their nominations.
J.C.: And they are…
QUENTIN TARANTINO – Drawing Dead
STEVEN SODERBERGH – Things I forgot to tell you
TIM BURTON – Sherlock Holmes
And the winner is…STEVEN SODERBERGH
THINGS I FORGOT TO TELL YOU
Steven Soderbergh took the statue and said: ‘This is for you Frances, Diane, Meg, Kate and Jodie. It was such a privilege to put the camera in front of you, press the button and watch you make such mastery acting works.’
BEST PICTURE
A con and a hero. We saw them this Season in ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ and ‘Nick Fury’. And we have them here together tonight. Two important names in CMP. Kurt Russell and GMA Winner George Clooney!
G.C.: Congratulations, Steven! I told you we would survive to ‘Night Cab’… *laughs* Oh, what a perfect night, two of my best friends, Brad and Steven, just won their awards…
K.R.: Yes, George, I know how you feel… Kate, I love you! And now, let’s get to work. A comedy, a mystery adventure and a drama… We have it all tonight for Best Picture. And that proves one thing…
G.C.: …that Harry Stark is making a lot of money?
K.R.: Well… that too… But what I meant is that it proves the versatility of CMP’s movies.
G.C.: Yes, that too. Nominees for Best Picture are…
MARY’S DARK SIDE
SHERLOCK HOLMES
UGLY
And the Best Picture winner of Season 9 is…
SHERLOCK HOLMES
Producer of the movie, Rae Houseman, returned to the stage to pick up the award and said: ‘This is for you, Tim. Without your talent, we would have never made it. Let’s do it again!’
AND THAT WAS ALL FOR TONIGHT!
