THE 16th GOLDEN MOON AWARDS CEREMONY

THE LOCATION

The Golden Moon Awards Ceremony is back home. The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, has been chosen again as the scenario for one of the most awaited and exciting events in the movie industry.

As usual, it was a night of thrill and glamour. Hundreds of fans enjoyed the arrival of the stars as they walked down the red carpet attending to media coming from all over the world. People got crazy when their favorite stars arrived. The show was broadcast worldwide live.


THE RED CARPET

Many familiar faces could be seen at the red carpet. Not only the nominees but many stars from past and upcoming CMP’s releases were there looking just fantastic. Among them, we could see Joseph Gordon-Levitt, from ‘The Respected’; Halle Berry, who will be seen soon in ‘Daughters Of The Dragon 2’; from ‘Deep Silence 3’, Jessica Alba; Tom Hardy, lead star of the upcoming ‘Grand Theft Auto’; and Adrien Brody, who will be seen next Season starring ‘Food And Other Languages’.


THE CEREMONY

(Italics = Off-voice)

Following the tradition, the ceremony begins with a videoclip shown in a giant screen on stage. It mixes images from the 30 movies released by CMP this Season. The clip ends with a short cut of Christian Bale’s face in ‘Modern Warfare’ saying: ‘Gentlemen, we better get ready for the worst…’

The lights of the theatre turn on and the off-voice announces:

D.D-L.: ‘Good night, ladies and gentlemen. Yes, I know you are disappointed… Because no, I am not James Franco.

I am only that prestigious British actor that used to be cast when CMP wanted to make a quality movie… Those were the days before James Franco and Johnny Depp took all the good jobs in CMP and I had to accept being in ‘Modern Warfare’…

Before offering me to introduce this ceremony, Harry Stark contacted Will Ferrell as usual. He asked Will what costume did he want to dress this time? Guess what he said? ‘Johnny Depp at a premiere’. But the guys of CMP’s Wardrobe Department could not find hippy and strange accessories enough. So Ferrell quitted and for some unexplainable reason Stark called me then.

And now here I am. And I wonder who the hell at CMP thought that I could make a funny introduction here? I am Daniel Day-Lewis, for God’s sake! I am NOT funny! Choosing me to introduce this ceremony is as mistaken as casting Vinnie Jones to play a scary slasher assassin… Oops! Sorry, that has already happened, hasn’t it?

Well, this is an embarrassing situation for me. I feel even more out of place than Topher Grace interacting with a zombie rhino.

Before going on, I want to express my gratitude to a few people here tonight.

Thank you, Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bulllock, for revealing the world how us, movie stars, really are…

Also, thank you, Lady Gaga, for showing the world that anyone can star a movie.

And thank you, Jessica Alba, for showing us that no matter how much critics hate a franchise, it is possible to keep making sequels of it… Only kidding, Jessica. Forgive me! I am just trying hard to be funny and I know I’m even worse than Ricky Gervais.

Well, jokes aside, congratulations everybody for being part of an excellent CMP’s Season. And, Jessica, you are wonderful. I will pay a ticket to watch ‘Deep Silence 4’ if it is ever made. Probably, nobody else will. But at least you can count on me!

M.F.: Yes, I know what you mean, Joaquin. It’s an unfair world. I had to jump from one skyscrapper to the next during the whole shooting of my film. And what did Natalie Portman do? Only fighting with educated British zombies… But she’s got the nomination!

E.M.: I know. We all feel a bit stereotyped some times. You see, I just can’t imagine myself on a screen without a dragon by my side…

BEST VILLAIN

They both know this category very well. In Season 3, he won the Best Villain award with ‘Star Wars: New Order’. This Season, we saw him in ‘Dark Shadows’. She was nominee at the Best Villain category in Season 14 for her work in ‘Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia’. And we have also seen her this Season in ‘The Cool’: Marion Cotillard and Daniel Craig!


M.C.: Oh, Daniel, it’s great to be here with you tonight. This feels like an old villains’ reunion…

D.C.: Not that old… Marion, have you noticed that we are here to present as nominees our cast mates in ‘The Cool’ and ‘Dark Shadows’?

BEST ADAPTATION

She could be seen this Season in the funny comedy ‘A Tangled Web’. And he will go through really difficult times next Season in the upcoming ‘The Prince Of Darkness’. Please welcome, Jessica Biel and Richard Gere!


R.G.: Wow, I feel like I’m at the beginning of my career… Second movie in CMP coming up for me. First time at this ceremony. Even Chloe Moretz has a longest CMP’s career than me!

J.B.: If things keep going the same way, Chloe Moretz will probably have soon a longest career than anyone else in CMP…

R.G.: Well, I have always wondered what is really a more difficult task for movie makers: working on an original concept or adapting a previous existing material?

J.B.: And what’s your conclusion about it?

R.G.: My conclusion is that I don’t care at all as long as they keep hiring me to be in more CMP’s movies…

Working with the two of them is the best award for anyone in this business. So this statue is only an addition to that wonderful and rewarding experience. Thank you!’

BEST ORIGINAL CONCEPT

They both are going to star new CMP’s movies coming up next Season. He will lead the cast of a movie directed by Paul Haggis and written by Josh Collins: ‘The Importance Of Being Honest’. She is going to make her debut in CMP starring a movie written by Chad Taylor and directed by Sophia Coppola: ‘Woman’. They are Kevin Costner and January Jones!


K.C.: Well, January, I hope I can concentrate on what we are here for, no matter your wonderful dress…

J.J.: I’m sure you can do it, Kevin.

K.C.: And I hope our upcoming movies will be next GMA Edition's nominees at least in this very same category.

A.H.: Oh, it is so relaxing being here to present only one award instead of the whole ceremony and wearing only one dress…

C.O.: This is also more relaxing to me than trying to conquer the world with Silver Sable and Wolverine around all the time…

A.H.: I have always considered that the Best Screenplay award is the most important category. CMP is made by its wonderful writers. It is them more than anybody else who have made CMP so big.

M.G.: Good night everybody. Looking at the nominees for both Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress it seems like you are really someone important in movie industry when you are offered to play supporting roles.

He says: ‘I don’t want to think that a certain age comes for actors in Hollywood when you are only offered supporting roles… Yeah, I know many of you are thinking that right now. And you are all wrong. Johnny, Bob and I are still finishing the first half of our acting careers, ok? And maybe I was wrong playing quite a few nice guys during that first half. Because at CMP I only win awards when I play negative characters, like in ‘American Tabloid’ or now here. Maybe I’ll have to reconsider my choices when I start the second half… Thank you, Jason Reitman and James Bradley for making such a great movie like ‘The Show’. And you can count on me for more supporting roles!’

THE FULL MOON AWARD

Ladies and gentlemen, the star from this Season’s ‘The Dark Tower’ and next Season’s ‘Kite’. Mr. Russell Crowe!


R.C.: CMP has created this new category at the Golden Moon Awards. And they have called it the Full Moon Award. Yes, I know, these people are obsessed with the moon… The idea is to reward with the Full Moon any special achievement in CMP’s world. This is not a category open to polls. And there won’t be previous nominations. The winner will be chosen directly by the CMP’s Executive Board. And any actor, actress, writer or director may win this award if there’s a good reason for it.

The winners of this first Full Moon Award have a good reason to deserve it. They are the brains behind the most successful CMP’s saga ever. A series of six movies that have been an amazing box office’s success. But, most of all, these movies have been an outstanding creative effort. No other CMP’s franchise has been more successful than this. And I know what I am saying: no shooting can be more complex than making these movies where sci-fi, fantasy, western, action, drama, live characters, CGI generated ones, real scenarios, computer designed ones and all kind of special effects get together.

Yes, I am talking about ‘The Dark Tower’ series. Stephen King wrote a unique series of books. And these two men translated them to the big screen in an incomparable creative effort.

Tonight, CMP wants to honor that creative talent shown in ‘The Dark Tower’ movies to the two main responsible authors of them. And that’s why this first Full Moon goes to…

Kubrick and Raimi take the award and dedicate it to Stephen King. Also, they both thank the hundreds of people that got involved in the making of the movies and they had nice words too for both Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Goro Miyazaki, who directed two of the installments of the saga.

BEST ACTRESS

To present the Best Actress and Best Actor award, please welcome past Edition’s Best Actor Winner David Strathairn and the star from ‘Noon’ and ‘A Murder Of Crows’ and GMA Nominee Marisa Tomei!


M.T.: Carey Mulligan, I am so happy you were nominated tonight. That has given me the chance to replace you here and feel like a real winner!

D.S.: You know, Marisa, I am not sure of how important is winning a GMA. Past Season, I won the Best Actor award. James Franco was nominee too. Yes, I took the statue home. But he was hired to star two great movies this Season…

M.T.: Maybe the guys at CMP lost your telephone number… Maybe they lost all their phone numbers’ agendas. Looking at the casts of this Season, I would say that they only saved the numbers of Denzel Washington, James Franco and Johnny Depp…

We saw her this Season in ‘Noon’ and we will see her again next Season in ‘Daughters Of The Dragon 2’. And he is also returning to CMP to star and direct ‘Alabama’: Cameron Diaz and Will Smith!

C.D.: Oh, come on, Will, don’t be a paranoid! Forget about that! Nobody remembers anymore that you starred ‘Gears Of War’, one of the biggest box office’s disasters in CMP’s History…

Later, being nominee together with two genius like Martin Scorsese and Spike Lee was something I just couldn’t believe. So what can I say about being here holding this statue? I dedicate this award to Ivan Reitman, the man who taught me everything I know about making movies… and my father. Thank you very much.’
