THE MOVING THUMBS
1-The Heirs-Part 2“Magnificent. Like it happened with The Godfather movies, this second one is even better than the first one. The complex relationships between the characters, the doses of violence, the drama and the absorbing plot makes it a classic that will be remembered for a long time. Everyone involved, from director to all the cast members, are at their best. A movie to watch once and again.”
-Andrew Kiggs, ‘Variety’
“At the end of the movie, you just wanna see more. Can’t wait for the third part. Scorsese knows how to control all De Niro and Penn acting tics. Both are contained and, at the same time, they perform an intense lesson of acting. Moore is fantastic as the decadent singer. And DiCaprio keeps growing as an actor taking the best of his secondary role. The scene where Robin Wright-Penn dies in front of her husband eyes is a top dramatic and epic moment that will become part of the story of Cinema”
-Ian Marks, ‘Los Angeles Times’
“CMP justifies with a movie like this some other arguable movies they’ve been making. This saga is a reason good enough to believe in the future of this pushing Studio”
-Amy Ratched, ‘Today’
2-Singles“Here we have a nice version of any ‘Friends’ episode. It makes you feel comfortable as you know where you are. It feels like going back to a nice home”
-Bob Felton, ‘Entertainment Weekly’
“There’s no much originality in this movie. Perry plays Perry and Parker plays Parker. That’s it. Only Kirsten Dunst try to show something new, as the eccentric and emotionally unstable Perry’s ex wife. Brooks could have gone a little further in this picture, but he preferred to stay in a safe territory, avoiding any acid humour or any deep analysis about love relationships”
-Jack Baxter, ‘Hollywood Reporter’
“Not much to say about this one. There’s a good chemistry between Perry and Parker and they have fans enough to support this movie. It’s a nice hour and a half of entertainment. You have to decide if that is enough or not to consider it a good movie”
-Jessica Tyne, ‘ET’

AWAITING RELEASE
1-Indigo Prophecy
The Cast: Matt Damon, Kate Beckinsale, Jamie Foxx, Mark Ruffalo, Brittany Murphy
The Director: Brian Kelley
The Plot: A man (Damon) kills a complete stranger, but he was under a possession when he did it. After that, he must find out who or what possesed him, and elude the police at the same time. Two police detectives (Foxx and Beckinsale) attempt to solve the crime. The brother of the man, a priest (Ruffalo) will be his main support in his search of what happened. Everythin will get more complicated in Damon’s life as he initiate a relationship with the police woman that is investigating his crime while still dealing with her ex girlfriend (Murphy).
The Comment: Based on a computer game, Kelley has put up an action show with a twisted plot. A solid cast and an energetic direction can make this movie an attractive hit for CMP.
2-Dead Man’s Song
The Cast: George Clooney, Kim Bassinger, Morgan Freeman, Vincent D’Onofrio, Rebecca Romijn
The Director and Producer: George Clooney
The Plot: The 1920’s in Chicago. Joe Cranshaw (G.Clooney), private investigator, is hired by famous actress Tallulah Berkeley (K.Basinger) to investigate the murder of her younger sister, a high standing prostitute. It seems as an ordinary murder case, but investigations will lead Cranshaw to the son of the major Mafia boss, the arrogant playboy Jimmy Dugan (V. D’Onofrio). The case becomes very dangerous for Cranshaw as he enters in the mysterious and violent world behind the jazz clubs ruled by the Mafia. He will be helped by his best friend, a jazz musician (M.Freeman), and the victim’s best friend, another prostitute (R.Romijn). Cranshaw will initiate a passionate relationship with Tallulah, although he doesn’t trust her after discovering she was Dugan’s lover for a long time. He will realize that no-one and nothing is what it seems as he tries to prove that Dugan is a murderer.
The Comment: Glamour, action and suspense in this thriller with the cool taste of the classics. Clooney has put up a nice visual movie, a personal tribute to an old fashioned way of making movies. A quality bet for CMP.
MOVIES IN DEVELOPMENTTALES OF THE JEDI: First name committed with the new trilogy. Nothing more and nothing less than Peter Jackson himself has been hired by CMP to produce the three movies based on the ancient jedi wars. He will probably direct the first movie too. During a press conference at CMP, Jackson said that he was so thrilled with this challenge and that the main reason to accept it was that he is a major fan of all the Star Wars movies since he was almost a kid.
SAM & TWITCH: John Goodman and Tim Roth will star in this second Matt Kubrick’s movie. The production will take special care in make up and cinematography, as Kubrick wants to make the movie look as close as possible to the comic novels it is based in, in a similar way of what Robert Rodriguez did in ‘Sin City’.
ROBOTECH 2: Now it’s official. Michael Bay will produce but won’t direct this sequel. Tony Scott is the main candidate at the moment to direct it.
THE TEMPTING DIAMOND: Ivan Reitman, who directed and produced the CMP’s megahit ‘The Mogulers’, is back home. He will direct this comedy about a band of elder robbers leaded by Bill Murray. Murray has worked previously for CMP in ‘Deadly Sins’ and being Chesire Cat’s voice in ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Reitman and Murray worked together years ago in ‘Ghostbusters’. Both have expressed their joy for what they have called ‘an old friends reunion’.
DEEP SILENCE: Cameron has finished the complicated shooting of the movie in a giant water tank at CMP’s Studios. But most of the underwater scenes were really shot in the depths of the Pacific Ocean. All the cast had to learn to dive. Keanu Reeves and Jessica Alba have both confessed that making this movie has been one of the most exciting but also demanding works of their careers.
PRIEST: The Archbishop of Boston has sent a letter to CMP’s President asking to cancel the production or at least changing the title of this movie. He considers that a priest should not become a violent action hero, as it is not a moral reference for the youth. More problems for this John Woo’s movie that is going through hard times from its very beginning.
CATHEDRAL: Peter Weir and his people are back from Africa. Russell Crowe, Merryl Streep, Charlize Theron and Don Cheadle compose the cast of this exotic adventure that takes place during the 19th century.
RUMOURS AND GOSSIPS
Everything is so original around the Matt Kubrick’s noir cops movie ‘Sam & Twitch’. Harry Stark is negotiating a long list of top stars cameos for the film. Main Hollywood names would make a brief special appearance playing the most peculiar characters and one of the attractions of the movie will be that who is who. Stars like Angelina Jolie, Al Pacino or Jack Nicholson are rumoured to be some of the possible cameos in the movie.
Quite a surprise. Wes Craven, who directed ‘Fear The Darkness’ and directed and produced ‘The Long Dark Night’, won’t be in charge of the third movie of the Darkman saga. Craven’s agent announced it recently. But it is not known yet if that has been his own will or if CMP has taken the decision of replacing him.
A new space opera coming soon. Stark is close to greenlight another trilogy of sci-fi movies, beside ‘Tales Of The Jedi’. That way, both trilogies could be competing soon in the screens. The new trilogy would not be based in any previous saga. It is a completely original story that has liked enough CMP’s Executive Board to decide to give it a chance.Comedy talents are knocking at CMP’s door. Jack Black is trying to convince Farrelly brothers to get involved together in the production of a new Kubrick’s story, ‘Dirty Sanchez’. Also, Eddie Murphy could debut in another CMP’s movie soon if talking gets to a good ending.
The shooting of ‘Cathedral’ has been one of those that people involve never forgets. Making a movie in the middle of the African savannah is not an easy thing. Most of the cast and the crew have suffered different illness and fevers. Charlize Theron had to spend a few days in a Mombassa’s hospital due to a strange digestive problem. Russell Crowe suffered the attack of a rhinoceros during a hunt. And Merryl Streep has recently said that she won’t miss Africa anymore after the experience of this shootage.
