First, let’s take a look at…

PIECE OF MY HEART

The Cast: Drew Barrymore, Mark Ruffalo, Jamie Foxx, Robert Downey Jr., Jack Nicholson

The Director: Buz Luhrman

Although this is my first entry into the reviewing arena, this just seems to be an “updated” version of the 1979 movie, THE ROSE, which starred Bette Midler as the main character of Mary Rose Foster, based on the life of music iconic and tragedy Janis Joplin.

Can’t we at least get an original story here? Okay, maybe I’m not even giving this a chance… but one never knows.

I love Drew Barrymore. I personally think she’s a marvelous actress with a little bit of a “wild side” (although that has changed somewhat, as she has matured), and has the raw, gorgeous sex appeal and the acting ability to pull off the role of the wild, yet innocent side of the “larger than life” model of the immortal Janis Joplin (in this case the character is named Janey Jay, but… what’s in a name). The character concepts and basic storyline are essentially the same… just the names have been changed, to protect the innocent.

THE ROSE was just such a phenomenal piece of film, and can PIECE OF MY HEART, what is basically an updated version of that picture live up to the occasion?

Well, THE ROSE is almost 30 years old… and maybe nobody will notice the similarities

Except maybe, The Devine Miss M.

My first reactions…

Next, let’s take a look at…

THE LIBRARY

The Cast: Anthony Hopkins, Eric Bana, Natalie Portman, Ian Holm, Michael Clarke Duncan, Ian McKellen

The Director: Anthony Minghella

First and foremost, let me say that I love epics. Epics are great sweeping stories, with larger than life situations and total emersion in the presentation of the drama.

This film has the makings of a classic epic, and I don’t feel that it will disappoint audiences at all.

The casting is captivating and the story is enthralling, to say the least. With a story set in the time of the Roman Empire, and of the Great Library of Alexandria.

I can’t thing of enough nice things to say about this project… so I’ll leave you with this.

See this film… it’s history in the making.
