ON THEATRES NEXT WEEK
1-HITMAN: PAIN OF DESTINY
Action
The Cast: Colin Farrel, Patrick Stewart, John Hurt, Arnold Vosloo, Kate Winslet
The Director: Tony Scott
The Producer and Screenwriter: John Daws
The Plot: Set 7 years earlier than the original Hitman this story tells of the story of the Brotherhood and how it came to include John Jackson (C.Farrell).
John Jackson (JJ to friends) is a living in England but raised in Ireland. After seeing his parents die he was taken in by Father Michaels (P.Stewart) and tried to look after JJ as his own son.
JJ however, is struggling to understand why God would let his parents die and is starting to rebel against the church that he has grown up in.
He is close to being an alcoholic and uses aggression to get what he wants. A street brawler and thug he spends most nights in pub fights. The only person that has a calming effect on him his Sarah Conners (K. Winslet), a happy go lucky woman he met once when he stopped her then boyfriend from hitting her. She tries to calm him and for some reason sees that there is good in him and always around to lend a hand.
Father Greening (J.Hurt) comes to Father Michaels with disturbing news of a terrorist group who are starting to get increasingly close to an attack on England for their continuous refusal to respect other religions.
Father Greening confesses to Michaels that now is time to rebuild the brotherhood and that JJ would need the guidance of the Brotherhood.
Michaels recovers JJ one night lying in the street after a fight in which he lost with Sarah trying to get him up. They both take him back to the church.
He tells JJ that he is living in a Brotherhood. The Brotherhood has been in existance for over 200 years and has always looked after the needs of the World that God created and that his belief was that JJ had been sent to him years ago to fulfill the role of the Hitman of God.
JJ is not willing to help God and refuses his 'Father' and leaves.
He escapes back to Ireland with Sarah. While there he visits the graves of his parents to ask why they were taken. What had they done. While at the Hotel he meets Sergio Vaz Te (Arnold Vosloo) who speaks to him. JJ says he has given up on God. Sergio says there is no God and those who believe in him will not have the compassion from Allah. Sergio leaves and JJ follows him to in anger as to why he would speak like this. Once outside he cannot find him. He turns to go back inside and the Hotel explodes. Sarah is inside the Hotel. He rushes in to try and find her but cannot and leaves in anger.
He realises that Sergio was a one of the terrorist Father Michaels had spoke of. wanting revenge for him killing Sarah and the only sane thing in his life at the moment He goes back to England to tell Michaels and Greening he will become the Hitman and asks what he has to do. What is needed to stop the evil, the type of people who killed his parents.
Michaels teaches and trains him in the traditions of the Hitman of God.
He and Michaels set out to stop the attack. Michaels equipped with shotgun and JJ in tow explains that he has the blessing of God to stop others that belong in hell.
Sergio meanwhile is plotting the attack. Part of the attack is to take the Hilton Hotel in London which is holding a conference for Christians.
Sergio and team take the building and release a tape to the media. JJ and Michaels go to the Hotel knowing that police are not allowed within 10 miles of the hotel. They have cameras everywhere around the city and anyone that they suspect to be police will be responsible for a dead hostage.
Michaels dressed in his robe stands outside the Hotel and declares that he wants to be with his people and face this hell with them. Sergio sees this as another hostage and takes him and the robed Hitman in.
Hitman escapes when he asks to use the toilet and slowly takes them out one by one. He reaches the main room where he sees Michaels is about to be executed if JJ does not show. JJ gives himself in. While Sergio recognises JJs face he is distracted giving time for Michaels to break free. He pushes Sergio and pulls out the Shotgun. JJ stops Michaels and kills Sergio with a pistol. He tells Michaels that he should not stain his hands with blood.
They slip out before the police arrive and go back to the Brotherhood. They return to find Father Greening nailed to a cross and dead with the other Fathers around praying. The film ends.

Stark’s Comment: Hitman has become a CMP’s iconic character by now. The three first movies made great box offices: 99,125 and 93 millions. Colin Farrel won the Best Actor GMA for ‘Hitman: Two Ways To Die’. Keira Knightley was also nominated as Best Actress for the same movie. So this release, a prequel to the trilogy, is more than a big event for the Studio.
2-THE METAL
Comedy / Musical
The Cast: Owen Wilson, Shawn Wayans, Brendan Fraser, Sacha Baron Cohen, Annette Benning, Robin Williams. Cameos by Jack Black (JB), Kyle Geass (KG).
The Director: Michael Lehman
The Screenwriter: David Makalaster
The Plot: Why do musicals always have to use bright and cheery musical numbers? Why not one with lots of pyrotechnics and dancers all dressed in black instead? You could think of this as "Blues Brothers" for the long-haired, spike-wearing crowd.
Johnny "Napalm" Lowan (Wilson) is a young rock guitarist, the best at what he does according to himself. What he does is more trashing hotel rooms than anything else though, so none of the local bands seeking a guitarist would touch him with a ten-foot pole. Instead he decides to start his own band, starting with himself and his best stupid buddy Thud (Wayans) on drums, to fit their more aggressive style. And thus, in a rather anti-climactic moment of headbanging and power chords, the Heavy Metal band Napalm Bath is born.
Now, Johnny and Thud begin the long road to superstardom, completing the band - Womanizer bassist Les Peycul (Fraser) and control-freak singer Dirk Gee(Cohen) -, handling the fans - including an obsessed Trina Johnson (Benning) - as well as shifty managers - "Vicious" Sid Sauer (Williams) - and mis-booked gigs at the Flamenco Fiesta Bar & Grill.
Soundtrack :
1. Tenacious D - The Metal
2. Slayer - Raining Blood
3. Napalm Bath - Take A/Break (Your Bones) (Original for the film)
4. Mitch's Moose Lounge Mosh (Original for the film)
5. Sister Sin - Love/Hate
6. Johnny Lowan - The Obligatory Ballad (Original for the film)
7. Avenged Sevenfold - The Beast And The Harlot
8. Napalm Bath - Terror On The Track (Original for the film)
9. Trashing The Credits (Original for the film)

Stark’s Comment: I think this is a most funny comedy. The same way it happened with ‘Lieutenant USA and His Warm Steel Gang’, I have the feeling that this one may also become a reference for comedy in CMP.
3-DRAWING DREAMS
Drama
The Cast: Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr., Diane Keaton, Christina Ricci
The Director: David Mamet
The Screenwriter: Marcus Trax
The Plot: Meet Philip Fostern (Depp). He is an artist and an optomist, but he is so focused on his work and art that he has given up the simple things and become a recluse. Friendly and quiet but intense. But when he is diagnosed with early onset alzheimer's disease he sees a future where his mind, his personality will die slowly. So he dives into a life of excess, drugs, alcohol and women. His agent, Matt Hink (R.Downey Jr.), sees the decline of not only his client but his friend and struggles to help him. With the help of a doctor Mary Fields (D.Keaton) and surprising one of the women Philip sleeps with, Hilary Westal (C.Ricci), he starts to dig himself back out of his hole and rediscover his life and his art.
Ten years later during the initial stages of the disease Hilary is still there by his side as is Matt.
A story about what life really means and sometimes to see the light you have to be in the dark.

Stark’s Comment: We all know by now what means the trio Trax / Mamet / Depp: quality. They have made before great CMP’s classics like ‘Smoke Signals’, ‘No Evil’ and ‘Parody Of Arts’. Low budget movies, decent box offices, multi-nominated at the GMA and critical acclaim. That’s the pattern of the trio and I hope it will be repeated again this time.
MOVIES IN DEVELOMENT

THE AVENGERS: Let’s go with another ‘mega-everything’. ‘The Avengers’ will not only be connected to CMP’s Captain America trilogy, but also to a non-CMP movie, ‘Iron Man’. GMA Winner Robert Downey Jr. will play again the iron hero in Verbinski’s movie. The director offered him to play it as he considered it would not make sense to have other talent playing Iron Man. By the way, the production is said to count with one of the highest CMP’s budgets ever.

FACTION 12: ...and more mega-productions. Rachel Bilson will make her debut in CMP replacing Kirsten Dunst as the adopted daughter of Nicole Kidman. And other name included in the cast: Thomas Haden Church, recently seen in ‘T.Y.M.: The Inferno Revenge’ and ‘Syndrome: New Eden’.
FIVE THUNDERBOLTS: Obviously, the cast for this mobster action movie will be 100 % Asian talents. Ziyi Zhang, seen in the multi-awarded ‘Nagasaki Daydreams’ – and nominated for it as Best Supporting Actress in the latest GMA’s edition – plays the main female role of the story. Rumours say that producer Martin Scorsese and director Ang Lee are shooting some scenes both in English and Chinese as they have not decided yet in which language will the movie be released in America.

WHEN DREAMS DIE: Tom Wilkinson (‘Flashes Of Life’) will play Haley Joel Osment’s coach in this sports drama while Max Minghella will make his debut in CMP with this movie. Director Sam Mendes is already editing it to get it ready for release.
DAMNATION ROAD: Charlize Theron (‘Cathedral’, ‘The Heirs – Part 3’, ‘Lieutenant USA’) has

SUPER BOWL: Again sports in the background of a story, this time a comedy. GMA Winner Shia Leabouf finally returns to CMP in this road movie about a group of friends travelling to attend to the Super Bowl. Josh Collins is behind the screenplay and Paul Weitz is behind the cameras in this teen comedy.
LIFE AND FACTS OF A DIRTY MIND: An obsessive and a bit crazed movie director looks back to his life while he argues with the Devil himself if he

TOGETHER APART: Finally, this David Makalaster’s love story has a director. Jason Reitman will take control of the cameras in his first work for CMP. And working for the Studio seems to be worthy for some talents: right after making their debut in ‘Quadrophenia’, Jamie Bell and Evan Rachel Wood have received the offer to be back in this new movie. Wood will play the lead female role while Bell will be the lead male character’s best friend. And the star to play that lead male character is still being searched after Haley Joel Osment refused to play it.

Hi faithful readers I am back with a brand new issue for you people it I've been away for awhile I've been sick with the flu. How about we get down to talking about some upcoming movies we all love them and remember I rate movies on hype from 1-5
The Metal
I love heavy metal music and this sounds a bit like a spinal tap thing but with a crazed fan. I can't wait to see this one. I think that the DVD should have a few music videos of this badn that would be awesome. 4
Drawing Dreams
Johnny Depp doesn't let you down in his movies and always plays off beat or quirky characters. I'm sure that this will turn out to be atleast a good movie. 3
The Avengers
This is going to be a sure fire massive hit at the theatre and I for one cannot wait! it's about time this Marvel franchise was brought to the big screen and who better to direct it than Gore Verbinski? he's a man with an eye for style and with the Pirates movie he proved he knows how to set up fantastic action set pieces that keep you on the edge of your seat. 5
Damnation Road
Not much has said about this movie other than it is going to be the most violent movie that has been released by CMP with Rob Zombie directing no less. I'll give this movie a 3.
Together apart
There are some good love stories out there but are people really hooking up through the net liking this? if hollywood has anything to say then the answer is yes. I'd rather meet the person first then talk to a lady who might turn out to be some big guy. 2
Well thanks for reading everyone that is all I have for todays issue. Hope to see you all again very soon!
MAKING OF… ‘HITMAN: PAIN OF DESTINY’
John Daws:
When first coming up with the idea of Hitman it was brought about from watching the action films of the 80's. These stories generally had a weak story with unbelivable plot threads and just had mindless blowing up of things. I loved the idea of not having to have thought provoking plots and just go for the enjoyment value of effects and such.
The idea of a hitman was born by taking these elements and putting them into real life. Instead of fantasy I took real world problems like drug cartels and religion and revenge and thought about the things that we all think about in the real world.
The story of Hitman was always fleshed out and always had a back story of where the characters came from. The reason this prequel was not released first was because I felt that to announce the character as already being in the fight was a better idea. I always wondered why films always seem to show the character in their first fight and decided that these real life problems have been around for ages so it made sense that the character had also been around for ages. Now I want to show where the story came from and what led to the people becoming who they are at the time of the first movie.
This had its issues though. I did not want to recast all the characters. Age concerns came through and so some elements of the story had to be re-written. At first I thought of digitally changing the appearances of the characters to make them look younger (along the lines of Beowulf) but thought that this did not look real enough so changing the setting to only 7 years ago fit better. This also meant that the story had to change slightly as the main character was not as young and unexperienced in the world than had originally been written.
So what qualities did Jack Johnson have before he joined the secret crime fighting order. To explain this I thought we would talk to the actor himself, Colin Farrel and he can describe how he found his character.
Colin Farrell:
Finding this character took me to my roots. He was born in Ireland and so i went back home and went to the smaller towns and saw what life was like for the people. I saw how things were done and the traditional Irish ways of which there are many. Irish are a fun easy going people but you do not want to get on the wrong side of them. Irish also have strong religious values and so that part of the story was also part and parcel with Irish traditions. I had to find out what made people believe in God even when so many bad things happen so I actually spent time talking to people at Church to see how they keep faith in the face of adversity such as parents or loved ones who die etc.
I also drew from my own experiences with alcohol and so being on

I think that the role all be it action orientated really was challenging for the mind as it touches on so many parts of real life problems and yet this flawed unhappy individual still helps make a difference for so many people who he does not even know. The character deals with the death of his parents, alcoholism, anger, the death of his one good thing in Kates (Winslet) character and then revenge all in one film. I think that these demons are believable and all things that happen in real life particularly in these bad times.
John Daws:
One of the main challenges in this movie was to make sure that the back story really does flow through to the original trilogy of films. The introduction of new characters has to be considered. Making sure that these people are believable past members of the main protagonists life are important and so having someone like Kate was great. She plays the happy go lucky type very well and I think that it was important she played the part as I believe everyone has something stable in their lives and she was it for Colin.
Kate Winslett:
It was a great thing to be asked to do. I know the controversy that surrounds the original trilogy with the violence and deaths but what I think John has tried to do is show that this is not something to be glorified. If you actually can sit through what is happening without being mortified then there is probably something wrong with you. Death and murder is not a pleasant thing. Drugs and power are corrupting killers and religion can be used to manipulate and I think these movies have to show these not for a shock value to make a better box office but to say 'hey what these people are doing is not cool, but this actually happens in real life and it’s got to stop.'

John Daws:
Another issue with the film is the Father Greening plot. Sean Connery was my main casting choice however the closing scene in particular was really off putting. It was his choice and so John Hurt who was a brilliant replacement and a great actor was penciled in for the part. He understood the scene a lot more than Sean and understands what it is there for.
John Hurt:
The scene is quite graphic and shooting it was very shocking for a lot of people there. The on location churches were not going to allow us to shoot it and so the set guys had to build an exact replica of the church we had been shooting in. I think that it shows redemption and sacrifice and it was a bold statement from John and particularly the director to shoot the scene exactly how John had written it. He wanted to leave people with a thought provoking scene and I think it does just that. With all the other fathers praying it shows that no matter what happens they keep their faith.
John Daws:
All in all I think that this movie really does a good job in showing what the story grew from. It fills in the whole 'where did this guy come from' questions and allows the people who watch the movie to walk away with more questions not about the movie but about the real world and the real life problems that are happening. I think that people need to ask these questions. We should question the morality of everything that happens and we should say hang on this is not right. The world is not acting as it should.
We had a lot of issues in getting this film off the ground and although it is sure to have some controversy I think that if a movie does ask questions then it has done a job in not being just another mindless film. I hope everyone enjoys it.
PIC OF THE WEEK
Owen Wilson has taken so seriously his work in the upcoming musical comedy ‘The Metal’ that here is how he showed up in the promotional press conference CMP organized in the Hotel Bonaventure in Los Angeles. Owen was so funny and joked about his transformation into a heavy metal star. It was a nice event where Owen showed he is in great form. Fortunately, the tattoos were faked and he won’t need surgery to remove them after the promo tour.

DVD BOX SET RELEASE: ‘HITMAN TRILOGY’
Now that ‘Hitman: Pain Of Destiny’ is ready to hit the screens, CMP has released a box set with the three first episodes of this cult saga. Here are the contents of this very special release:

-‘Making Of A Legend’: a documentary about the making of the three movies including interviews with Colin Farrel, Patrick Stewart, Paul Bettany, Keira Knightley, Kate Winslet and Kate Beckinsale.
-‘Hitman: The Origin’: an interview with Hitman’s creators, director Tony Scott and writer John Daws, where they remember the controversy about the originality of the character after it was wrongly said that the saga was based in a PC game, among other curiosities.
-Video Clip: U2 performs the instrumental main theme of the saga.
-Picture Gallery, including pics from the three movies and their official posters.
-Behind the scenes: ‘Hitman: Pain Of Destiny’

TALK OF THE TOWN
A few weeks ago, we announced that Stephen King would enter in CMP’s world due to Matt

As it happened with Kubrick and ‘Blood Beach’, Steve Connors isn’t too happy with the critical reaction to his latest pitch, ‘Ultraman: Afraid Of The Clones’. ‘Of course it is a bad movie’, he has recently stated, ‘That’s the idea and taking it seriously is misunderstanding it. Ultraman’s movies are deliberately bad movies. That’s part of the fan.’ ‘I have written serious sci-fi stories like The Guardians and Caves Of Steel, but Ultraman is meant to be silly and I like it that way’, he added. Connors did not make clear if he will write more Ultraman adventures or not. He is now considering the chance of writing a sequel of his blockbuster ‘The Shrinking Man’.

Finally, Kirsten Dunst won’t appear in ‘Faction 12’. Although Daws accepted to make some changes in the screenplay to have her in, Dunst finally decided that her character wasn’t interesting enough and decided to refuse the offer. The character written for her will be finally played by Rachel Bilson. The funny thing is that, after all the character’s ages problems, Bilson has exactly the same age than Dunst.
Uncertain future for two franchises. CMP expected to release the third ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ movie during the upcoming Season 7. But the temporary retirement of its

Good news and bad news. CMP has got net gains in its last 13 movies. And that’s a record. The longest CMP’s ‘winning strike’ since Season 1 (but then CMP used a lower HM’s level). Another good news: this will probably be the CMP’s Season with the lowest number of movies getting net losses (again except Season 1). The bad news? It may be also the CMP’s Season with the lowest number of movies with a box office superior to the magical ‘100 millions’.
