THE 11th GOLDEN MOON AWARDS CEREMONY

THE LOCATION

The Golden Moon Awards are back in London for the second time. In a nice – and a bit cold – evening, the ceremony begun at the traditional Odeon Theatre, in Leicester Square. Hundreds of fans had been waiting there for hours to welcome their favourite stars.


THE RED CARPET

Many of CMP’s favorite stars walked down the red carpet, waving at the fans and stopping by to speak with the media. Among them, we could see Tom Hanks, who made a pause in the shooting of ‘American Tabloid’, his new movie for CMP, to be here tonight; Cameron Diaz, who will be starring soon ‘Daughters Of The Dragon’; Colin Firth, ready to release ‘The Blacksmith’s Sword’; and the young Hayden Pannetiere, who starred this Season the blockbuster ‘Zoids’.


THE CEREMONY

A giant screen came down from top of the stage while CMP’s fanfare sounded to show clips from the thirty movies released by the Studio during this Season. The clip ended with a short cut of Jeff Bridges whispering ‘Let’s rock…’

An off-voice introduced the stars on stage.

Ladies and Gentlemen, two powerful CMP’s stars: Miss Silver Sable, Katherine Heigl, and Miss Wonder Woman, Cobie Smulders!


C.S.: Welcome to the 11th Edition of the Golden Moon Awards!
K.H.: The edition when ‘power to the women’ became the slogan of Crazy Moon Pictures!
C.S.: Will Ferrel rejected to come out here tonight dressed up us Silver Sable or Wonder Woman… You know how snooty some stars turn when they get a GMA nomination… *Ferrel waves from his seat* … so Harry Stark asked us to replace him.
K.H.: We have a very interesting night ahead. Wonderful movies will fight to win in all the 14 categories. And yes, Mr. Collins, we know it: Abigail is one of the nominees… *Abigail Breslin laughs at her seat*
C.S.: We have rock stars, mobsters, robots, preachers, fireflies here tonight, so it looks as a very special time.
K.H.: And remember, we promise a breath-taking ego fight between Cobie and me if any of you ever decide to write something like ‘The Female Avengers’…

BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN

She has made a successful debut in CMP this Season playing a mafia boss’ wife in ‘Gaspipe’. And he has put to rest his Iron Man’s costume for a short time to be in two great movies this Season, ‘Silent Hill’ and ‘Command and Conquer’: please welcome Carla Gugino and GMA Winner Robert Downey Jr.


C.G.: Oh, it’s great to be part of CMP’s universe…
R.D.: Sure, Carla. As long as they don’t oblige you to play the same character once and again…
C.G.: Come on, Robert, we are all looking forward for ‘The Avengers 4’!
R.D.: Oh, yeah, but once it’s over, what will Bob Felton write about when all the gossips around the saga pass?

Jack Preston, Executive Producer of ‘Silent Hill’, stepped up to the stage and thanked the award. ‘We will try to make a good work again in the sequel!’, he said.

MOST WANTED SEQUEL

They will always be remembered as the great starring couple of ‘Pirates Of he Caribbean’ movies. But they are also two major stars in CMP. In Season 12, we will have the pleasure of seeing her again starring a CMP’s movie, the romantic ‘The Princess and The Captain’, while he will have to deal again with a slicky Chinese dragon in 'Under The Gun': GMA Winner Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom!


K.K.: It’s great to see you here, Orlando.
O.B.: Always my pleasure, Keira.
K.K.: Wow, we have three great movies here… The three of them were surprising, entertaining and left audiences with the will of more.
O.B.: Picking up a nomination in this category is not an easy thing, as CMP sometimes looks as The Home Of The Sequels. But the three of them really deserved it.

Pierre Daughter, producer of the movie, took the statue. ‘The screenplay of the sequel is already written. So, Mr. Stark, we are only waiting for your green light to go on!’, he said.

BEST VILLAIN

They were both seen this Season playing murderous and non-human characters. And none of them really died cause both are alive and kicking here tonight. She was a disturbing robot in ‘Robots Of Dawn’. He played again and maybe for the last time the legendary Darkman in ‘Raise Of The Darkman’. GMA Winner Uma Thurman and Benicio Del Toro!

U.T.: Oh, come on, Benicio… Stop whining. I have heard backstage that you are starring a new CMP’s movie soon…

Daniel Day-Lewis took his award and thanked Josh Collins and James Mangold for counting on him to be part of such a great movie. ‘Good luck, Abbie. Good luck, Robin. It was my pleasure having the chance to work with you’, he said.

BEST CAST

He has become a CMP’s regular worker thanks to his permanent association with Dawson Edwards and will be back soon again with Edwards’ newest movie ‘24 Hours To Live’. She will keep having troubles in the future after ‘Robots Of Dawn’ in the upcoming ‘Edge Of Human’. They are Derek Luke and Evan Rachel Wood!


D.L.: I always wonder who keeps this statue when a whole cast is awarded…
E.R.: I’m new at this ceremony but I’ve heard they cut it out in pieces backstage so each talent can have a piece of it.
D.L.: Anything is possible in CMP…
E.R.: There’s nothing better for an actor or actress than working with great cast mates in a movie. It helps you to give the best of you. And I know what I’m talking about, as member of one of the casts nominated tonight.

Julia Simps, Casting Director of the movie, took the award and dedicated it to Ryan, Paz, Kate, Sienna, Ellen, Dane, Ben and Steve... ‘a dream cast for any movie’, she said.

Let’s go with the first live music performance of the night. The London Symphony Orchestra plays a mix symphony with the main instrumental themes from ‘Robots Of Dawn’, ‘Gaspipe’ and ‘Fireflies Of The Jelly-Jars’.


BEST ORIGINAL CONCEPT

It seems like tonight is resurrection night in so many senses. They both died too in their movies but are back alive tonight. They also resurrected in CMP after some time away. From ‘The Heights’, Demi Moore. And from ‘Tracks Of Blood’ and coming back again soon with ‘Riders On The Storm’, Mickey Rourke.


M.R.: Some people say that ‘The Rock Star’ was very much influenced by ‘The Wrestler’. Bullshit. I think it is a great movie with its own identity. And you were great at it, Jeff! *Jeff Bridges applauds Rourke from his seat*. I just wanted to say that.
D.M.: Hey, Mickey, that was not in the script! Now I don’t know what to say…
M.R.: Be original, Demi. That’s what this category is about…

Here we have two young stars that made impressive works this Season. From ‘Crossovers’, Ryan Reynolds! And from ‘Silent Hill’, Lindsay Lohan!

BEST STARRING COUPLE

The superheroes genre keeps growing in CMP. And that has also generated a successful subgenre: laughing at superheroes movies. They both made great parodies of the genre this Season: from ‘The Revengers’, Eddie Murphy, and from ‘Married To The Supervillain’, Ashley Judd!


E.M.: Oh, Ashley, let me hold this statue for a second. Considering how critics treat my movies, I have the feeling that it will be the only chance I’ll ever have to do it…

J.H.: The Best Screenplay category is my favorite one at the GMA. We all depend so much in CMP on the creativity and imagination of the wonderful writers of the Studio.

She is returning to CMP next Season with ‘Daughters Of The Dragon’. And he very much deserved to be here tonight because this Season he directed and produced the most profitable CMP’s movie ever, ‘Silver Sable and the Wild Pack’: Halle Berry and Bryan Singer!


H.B.: Well, Bryan, never mind if Katherine and Cobie create the female Avengers, I just hope you remember me and Cameron Diaz if Silver ever decide to create a Female Wild Pack!

J.N.: You know, Dustin, I was offered to star ‘The Rock Star’, but they thought I was too young to play a decadent rock musician…
D.H.: Yeah, I know what you mean. I had troubles to get the job to play a 111 years old man in ‘Borgel’ past Season. In that case, they thought I was too old for the character…
