MIDNIGHT
Horror
The Cast: Colin Farrell, Deborah Ann Woll, Gabriel Macht, Ginnifer Goodwin, Bill Murray, Imogen Poots, Angelica Huston
The Director: Brad Anderson
The Screenwriter: D.R.Cobb
The Plot:
The story is set in a small town down in the swamps of Louisiana during the 1930s. Joe Thibodeau (C.Farrell) is the local undertaker. He disdains religion and emotion and is looking for the ideal woman to bear him a child. His wife Laura (G.Goodwin) is been found to be unable to bear children, so Joe begins to make advances towards Sofia (D.A.Moll), the fiancée of his friend Remy (G.Macht). Sofia tells him that Remy is the only man in her life. Joe kills his wife Laura because of her infertility by poisoning her tea with Apocynum cannabinum, a poisonous herb. The local authorities cannot find enough evidence to arrest him.
Some days later, Joe is invited by Remy to visit a local fortune teller (A.Huston) who will tell the fortune of Remy's marriage with Sofia. The fortune teller reveals that there is going to be a tragic disaster, and the two will never get married. Joe calls her a fraud and states that the supernatural is a hoax. She warns him not to mock the supernatural forces, lest they make him pay. That night, Joe and Remy go to Remy's house, where Remy tells Joe that he really doesn't actually believe the fortune tellers' words, and that fully he expects to marry Sofia and have a happy life together. Joe fulfills the fortune tellers' prophecy by brutally bludgeoning and then drowning Remy in a pond on Remy’s property.
Once again, the police cannot find enough evidence to charge Joe with the crime, although he is their prime suspect. He proceeds with his plan to seduce Sofia by purchasing a dove for her, which she accepts. He starts to touch her against her will. Sofia tries to resist, and Joe savagely beats her and rapes her. Sofia curses him for his brutality, saying she will kill herself, then return to take his soul to hell. Joe laughs at her, but the next day she is found hanging in her home. To his surprise, she doesn't blame him in her suicide note. Meanwhile, the town’s lone doctor, Dr. Paltrow (B.Murray), begins to suspect Joe for the recent outbreak of violent deaths. When Joe becomes aware of the doctor's suspicions, Joe appears at Dr. Paltrow's home, gouges his eyes out with a corkscrew and sets him on fire.
Time passes and Joe remains unpunished for his crimes. On Halloween, Joe meets Mary (I.Poots), a young woman visiting her relatives, and chooses her as his next woman. Joe escorts Mary home late at night, only to be confronted by the fortune teller who predicted the doom of Remy and Sofia. She tells Joe that his soul shall be claimed by the ghosts of those he murdered at midnight. Joe threatens the fortune teller, and after leaving Mary at her destination, he is visited by ghostly apparitions. Joe runs away, and coincidentally arrives at the mausoleum where Remy and Sofia were buried. At the edge of his sanity, Joe opens the coffins to prove to himself his victims are really dead, but instead sees that their eyes are open, faces crawling with maggots. A short while later, the groundskeeper of the cemetery arrives at the mausoleum after hearing Joe's screams and finds him lying on the ground, horribly disfigured, his eyes open like the eyes of the two corpses. The nearby church bells ring out, indicating that it is now midnight.

Stark’s Comment:
The Studio has bet stronger for this film in terms of production and marketing budget than what we usually do with horror movies. We have the feeling that there’s something about this movie that can make it work very nicely at box office. Hope we are not wrong…
Behind The Scenes:
-This film is a remake of the 1964 Brazilian film ‘À Meia-Noite Levarei Sua Alma’.
-Brad Anderson has directed before for CMP the box office’s horror hit ‘Silent Hill’. But also its flopped sequel ‘Silent Hill: The Return’.
-Angelia Huston makes his debut in CMP here.
-Again, two GMAs Winner Bill Murray shows up playing a minor and peculiar character, same thing he has done often in many CMP’s movies like ‘Borgel’, ‘The Bus’ or ‘Fantasy World’.
-Gabriel Mach had not been seen in CMP since his two ‘L.A. Wolf’ movies.
-Imogen Poots has been urgently cast these days to play the main female character of the upcoming ‘The Paper Man’.
FAMILY REUNION

The Director: Jay Roach

The Plot:
Ben is a rich film executive that lives in Los Angeles, with his girlfriend Jennifer. He met her recently on a film set, and they hit it off well. Ben’s brother Zach still lives at home with his mother Helen, also in Los Angeles. Zach uses the internet to attempt to find love. But in his mid-30’s,his mother is growing worried. Ben visit’s the both of them, to tell them that he and Jennifer will be getting married. This is all going on, while Ben is trying to hire Brad Pitt for his next film, which would be a huge step for him in his career.
But this brings upon the conflict of inviting their father, who’s lived in New York for 18 years since the divorce. Zach and Ben talk about trying to get their parents back together. Ben and Helen have a hilarious conversation, in which he tries to show Helen how Zach finds women. He gets on Chatroulette and they see a video of a man masturbating., to Helen’s shock. Zach walks in, making an awkward moment for all three of them.
Ben and Jennifer attempt to have sex one night, but their mom won’t stop calling, asking wedding questions. Ben, finally, just turns off his phone. They can finally make love, but we cut to the Pitt household, where Brad Pitt (cameo) is on the phone. He is trying to call Ben, to tell him that he has accepted the company’s latest proposal. After he goes straight to voicemail, several times, he shrugs his shoulder, looks at a list of potential projects, and crosses out the one that Ben’s company is attached to.
Harrison arrives in Los Angeles, while Ben is at Zach and Helen’s house. He brings his new dime piece, Lyndsay, who the rest of the family have heard nothing about. This throws a wretch at Ben and Zach’s plan, and they must cope. In hopes of getting Harrison back, Helen tells Ben about the existence of a third child that they put up for adpotion.Ben finds this as a perfect opportunity, and invites Chris to dinner that night. It is an awkward dinner, as we find out that the reason they divorced was because Harrison didn't want to have a third child and Helen did. Ben was in Hollywood, and Zach at college, so neither were aware of the pregnancy. Breaking the tension, Chris makes some funny one-liners while at the table.
Comedy ensues, as the days build towards the wedding. Helen still has feelings for Harrison, but he is too attracted to Lindsay. But she is attracted to Harrison for his money, and actually starts to have a crush on Zach. On the day of the wedding, Ben learns of Lyndsy’s feelings, and tells Zach. Zach doesn’t believe him, and tells him to shut up. They get in a fight, ripping Ben’s suit. Harrison walks in, and apologizes for the last weekend. They then have a father-son conversation. He gives Ben his suit, and goes to the wedding in shorts and a t-shirt.
After the wedding, Lyndsy tells Zach that she really likes him, and they start to date. Harrison tells the whole family at the after-party that he is gay. And the only woman he ever really loved was Helen. And as for the movie ends, we see Helen sitting down in front of the computer, and pursuing love…on Chatroulette.

Stark’s Comment:
Considering the ‘star power’ of the cast, this one should be a box office’s success without major problems.
Behind The Scenes:
-Jay Roach’s latest work in CMP was ‘Guitar Hero’.
-Zach Braff has worked with Chad Taylor before in ‘The Bus’.
-Harrison Ford has worked with Chad Taylor before in ‘WW3’.
-Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston have met before in CMP in ‘Being Ben Stiller’ and out of CMP in ‘Along Came Polly’.
-Brad Pitt already made a cameo playing himself in ‘The Critic’.
AMERICAN WAY
Thriller / Drama
The Cast: Christian Bale, Keri Russell, Chris Cooper, Marcia Gay Harden, Jeff Bridges
The Director: Sam Mendes
The Producer: Grand Island Movies
The Screenwriter: Josh Collins
The Plot:
A man (C. Bale), his wife (K. Russell) and their young kids become the targets of an angry and crazy family who are trying to sue the couple for the death of their late teen-early 20s son who was killed on their property...while trying to break into their home.
He was trying to enter the home through the second story by climbing on an unstable structure. The structure gave way with his weight and he fell, the structure coming down on top of him and crushing him.
The parents of the burglar (C. Cooper, a veteran in the armed services and retired police chief) and his wife, (M.G. Harden, distraught over the loss of her son and seeking vengeance the American way with a lawsuit) are out to make their new rivals lives a living hell by threatening the family with phone calls, vandalism, going after their children, and with their own jackass of a lawyer (J. Bridges) to help hold the fire under them and so forth.
The film opens the viewers' minds, allowing them the chance to pick a side, whether suing someone over something a family member criminally did to another and ended up getting hurt or killed because of it. It's just a sad statement on this world that things like this story happen all the time.
Throughout the film the case consumes Bale, Russell, Cooper and Harden all the way to the conclusion when the court finds in favor of the defendants, all under the idea that it wouldn't have happened in the first place if their son didn't try to break into the family's home.

Stark’s Comment:
Not an expensive movie to produce and big stars in it… Sounds like a possible ‘sleeper’. So all in all, this looks as a highly promising week.
Behind The Scenes:
-Josh Collins, Sam Mendes and Jeff Bridges met before in the Season 11’s Best Picture GMA winner ‘The Rock Star’. Bridges also won the Best Actor award with that movie.
-This is the third work of Christian Bale this current Season after the blockbusters ‘Escape From Hell’ and ‘Justice league: Crisis On Infinite Earths’.
-Bale and Collins have worked together before in ‘Blink’ and ‘Escape From Hell’.
-Chris Cooper worked with Josh Collins in ‘Killer On The Road’.
-This is the fourth time that Collins works with Jeff Bridges after ‘Hollyweird’, ‘Married To The Supervillain’ and ‘The Rock Star’.
-Marcia Gay Harden is making here her debut in CMP.

MOUSE GUARD 2: Back in Season 15, writer Dawson Edwards and director Joe Carnahan

THE SHERIFF, SALOON AND THE STORM: Steven Soderbergh has only directed two movies for CMP: the failed comedy ‘Night Cab’, written by Matt Kubrick, and the experimental drama ‘Things I Forgot To Tell You’, written by James Bradley. With ‘Things…’, Soderbergh won a controversial Best Director GMA. Eight Seasons after that movie, he returns to the Studio with another daring challenge. Soderbergh will direct this very peculiar western written by Dawson Edwards and starred by Al Pacino, already seen this Season in ‘Grand Theft Auto’. As a curiosity, let’s remark that this will be the eighth work of Pacino for CMP but the first time he heads a cast. Also, Marion Cotillard will be in the movie, working again with Edwards after the good experiences of ‘Wonder Woman 2’ and ‘The Cool’. The film will be one of the first releases of Season 18.
MARIO: More names to add to the cast of this Chad Taylor’s recreation of the world of

HUNGER GAMES: This is one of those movies that go through a complex production phase. First, it was the decision about the director when Zack Snyder abandoned the project. Marc Forster was the chosen one. Now, the problem is the changes in the cast. Stars like Emma Stone and Robert Downey Jr. have rejected in the very last minute to be in the film. To replace them, the chosen ones are two CMP’s debutantes: Bonnie Wright (best known for the Harry Potter films) and Nathan Fillion. Lindsay Fonseca and Alex Pettyfer (seen before in another Taylor’s film: ‘WW3’) will also be in this movie.
THE QUESTION: The vision of D.R.Cobb about this peculiar comic character is creating big

EYE OF THE NEEDLE: Actor and director Kenneth Branagh joins the very British cast of this action thriller written and directed by James Bradley based on a Ken Follett’s book. Branagh has worked with Bradley before acting and directing some of the installments of his ‘Harry Flashman’ saga and also in the recent espionage film ‘Game Of Truth’.
BOARD BREAKER: The story of the self-growth of a kid thanks to martial arts… Yes, the premise

THE PAPER MAN: Last minute change in the cast of this movie written, directed and produced by Joey Stark. Stark wanted Marion Cotillard to be in the movie playing the Italian girlfriend of Jamie Bell in this biopic of the Austrian football star Matthias Sindelar. But after working with Cotillard for some weeks, Stark has had to give up the idea. It was impossible to hide Cotillard’s French accent and it would be too strange to hear an Italian girl speaking with French accent. So Stark has urgently replaced Cotillard with British actress Imogen Poots. Poots is making her CMP’s debut this week with ‘Midnight’.
F-ZERO AX: Bruce Willis will make for the first time a voice-only work in CMP with this third

DEATH CRUISE: After releasing past week ‘A View From The Bridge’, Steve Buscemi is back to work with this fourth installment of the ‘Reform School Girls’ series. In it, Buscemi plays a nasty FBI agent. Robert Rodriguez is directing this movie based on a screenplay written by Joey Stark.

JOSH COLLINS – ‘AMERICAN WAY’
Josh Collins is not anymore the most active writer in CMP, now that other screenwriters like D.R.Cobb or Chad Taylor are fighting for the record of the most hyper-active authors in the Studio. But still he keeps offering us regularly new stories, like this week’s release ‘American Way’. Collins returns again to his natural territory, drama, with a thought-provoking film directed by the always interesting Sam Mendes.
1.'American Way' is another one of those stories from you with a critical point of view about some elements of American society. Do you like movies with a political or social denounce message?
Sometimes I do, it depends on the view the film is trying to take. Is it too much on one side? Then I wouldn't like it. I enjoy the movies which can successfully take the good points of all sides. American Way will most likely be looked at by critics as 'expressing an idea/theory' as Fictitious Images was. I heard stories similar to that of American Way and felt a dramatization of it would hopefully get people to think. Not treat Cooper/Harden as these villains (actually the villain seems to be the attorney) and not to victimize Bale/Russell.
2.CMP is still releasing stories you wrote something like two years ago. You are not such a

I am trying to write when I can. I realize that I'm not the energetic writer I once was four years ago, but I would never fully leave CMP: even if I don't write a movie in a few seasons and then reemerge. Whenever a burst of inspiration hits, I would love to pitch it. I have a few new ideas up the pipeline, I just got to get them out of my head.
3.This week, CMP has greenlighted another one of your stories, 'Board Breaker'. What can you tell us about it?
Knowing that it involves Karate and there are so few movies involving the martial art, it will inevitably be compared to the 80s film: Karate Kid. May even be considered the 'remake that should have been, instead of what we got' even the plot could be taken as karate kid. The only thing about Board Breaker is that it is extremely autobiographical. I was a loner outcast in my childhood and was constantly reminded of it by my peers and family. When I took up karate, it was great. An outlet, an escape, a place I could go and not worry about being treated like I didn't belong. It's always been a part of me and still is, and I am honored to bring it right up front. In 'Dare to be Perfect' Breslin's character studied karate, so even back in those days as a writer I've made references to it!
4.I've heard a rumor about Dawson Edwards taking care of the screenplay of 'Metroid 2'... Why have you abandoned that franchise after the big success of the first movie?
It's difficult to do an adaptation of games. You want to make your own story

5.I have also read about a musical your are working in teaming up with Sofia Copolla... Sounds like a challenge...
Well I hope it doesn't get marketed that way too much: a musical. When we think musical we're thinking Hairspray, West Side Story, Grease; songs practucally every 5 minutes. It's more of a musical in the sense of Walk the Line or Ray. In the film I seem to be going back to my roots, mainly in the drama focused on a kid: this time, the kid hates the very same things she loves. After watching so many of these 'make my kid a star' shows, I've seen that these 'nobody stage-parents' are still bad to this day. Have they learned nothing from the families of Maculey Culkin or Gary Coleman?
Sofia is certainly an interesting choice, she doesn't seem to have musical to her stable of films, but I am confident she can pull it off with her marvelous artistic touch. I think any director can make a great film if they just have a clear vision and can make even a crappy script worth it.

DEMON HUNTER
‘Midnight Movies The Edge’ finally opens its doors with this release. Matt Kubrick has created the animation division of the Midnight Movies Studios to develop projects oriented to DVD market only. Kubrick’s plan is to produce creative and innovative animated features without the pressure of box office’s results.
Written by Matt Kubrick
Plot:
As the movie opens we get shots of vast plains, mountain tops and cities and small towns. It is also revealed that this movie takes place in a post apocalyptic world. All forms of technology has long been forgotten and there are scattered civilizations here and there. The first character we meet is our Heroine named Lianne and she is in the middle of a huge arena stark naked holding only a sword. There are ten other guys surrounding her and she is in a life or death fight with them while people cheer them on. Much blood shed ensues as she stabs, beheads and dismembers them and ends up drenched in their blood. Finally she drops her sword and falls to her knees. Lianna is a prisoner here and forced to fight once a week to earn her freedom. There are several other people here she is friends with named Anne, Scar, a hulking guy whose favorite weapon is a big hammer and Luthor. Secretly there are planning a big escape with a group of other prisoners who are tired of being trapped here. The arena is owned by a man named Levinson. After some character introductions and some downtime, a few nights later the group finally puts they're escape plan into motion. Lots of people are killed, guards and prisoners alike and Anne is killed, but a lot of others make their escape. Levinson survives though losing an eye and gaining a massive scar on his face.
Five years later Lianne is living by herself in a small village in the woods. She spends her time doing freelance work, she has honed her fighting skills to become a fighter and makes her living by hunting demons and monsters that roam the land. One night the village is raided by a group of demons. Many of the people are killed and the village lays in ruins. The village elder is also dead and his special amulet has been stolen. Lianne decides she has to set out on a quest in search of the reason behind the attack on her home which left many dead. Her travels will soon reunite her with Luthor who decides to join her on another adventure. They will make their way through a place known as Sin City, a city full of sex and perversion and violence. The city is being controlled by a crime boss a lady called the Mistress. Lianne and Luthor get involved in a subplot to kill her and her men to free the city of them before they set off to continue the quest. They will eventually discover that Levinson is trying to find the three other amulets that will give him a power and raise him to a god like status. The quest takes them through caves, ancient cities full of abandoned cars and decay. Luthor is killed by some of Levinson's men. The final battle between Lianne and Levinson takes place atop what was once the empire state building she will face not only Levinson but flying demons and multi tentacled monsters. But finally Levinson will die by the sword and fall from the building to the ground. Lianne decides to return to her old village to try and help rebuild.

TOP COMEDY STARS IN CMP
Still hot the amazing and unexpected success of ‘The Undercovers’ and meeting with this week’s release of ‘Family Reunion’, we have decided to get back to a recurrent debate in CMP’s world: who are the most popular comedians in the Studio? Ok, after a very deep reflection on this essential issue, and considering their box offices’ numbers, how demanded they are and their acting prestige, this is the official top list of CMP’s comedians …at this moment.
1.BEN STILLER

CMP’s Career: Out of his ten works for the Studio, 3 of them have been ‘+100’ and 1 of them has been a ‘+200’ (‘Woodland Creatures’). His only flop was directing (‘Eureka!’) but all his movies as actor have made net gains so far. He has two nominations at the GMA for Best Starring Couple (with Steve Martin for ‘The Perfect Candidate’ and with Will Ferrell for ‘Coen & Warshinski’).
Latest works: Before ‘Family Reunion’, he directed and starred the adult comedy ‘Son Of The Bride’. He has been trying to do something more than comedy lately accepting a minor role in Tarantino’s ‘Legends of the West’.
Future: No specific plans after ‘Family Reunion’ but presumably he will keep being a demanded talent for comedies besides directing a film from time to time.
2.STEVE CARELL

CMP’s Career: The big rival of Stiller for the CMP’s King Of Comedy throne. 9 movies in CMP including also 3 ‘+100’ and 1 ‘+200’. His only flop was ‘Crime Stoppers’. Lately, he has teamed up with Steve Connors in three consecutive films. No GMA’s nods yet for him.
Latest works: ‘The Undercovers’, the most surprising mega-success of this Season. It meant his first ‘+200’. He also made his debut as producer with it.
Future: It is expected to see him some time in the future in a sequel of ‘Fantasy World’, one of the films he has recently made with Steve Connors.
3.ZACK BRAFF

CMP’S Career: Although not as successful as Stiller and Carell, Braff has the advantage of having a certain prestige as an actor in more serious and quality comedies. His biggest box office's success was his CMP’s debut ‘The Mogulers’. He has met with Carell in the successful ‘Lieutenant USA and his Warm Still Gang’ and also in the flop ‘Crime Stoppers’. Braff has directed two movies for CMP, including the acclaimed ‘Mary’s Dark Side’. Three nominations at the GMA: Actor (‘Schroedinger’s Litterbox’), Starring Couple (with Kate Hudson, ‘Mary’s Dark Side’) and Supporting Actor (‘Suspicions and Dishonors’).
Latest works: The acclaimed Marc Webb’s comedy ‘The Bus’. A personal success for him.
Future: It is confirmed that he will reunite again in a new film with the team that made the acclaimed ‘Schroedinger’s Litterbox’: Ben Tyler, Richard Linklater and Anne Hathaway.
4.WILL FERRELL

CMP’s Career: Besides his traditional appearances at the Golden Moon Awards ceremonies, Ferrell has developed a solid career in the Studio, including three ‘+100’ films (‘Lit. USA’, ‘Q*Bert’ and ‘Borgel’) and a GMA win with Paul Giamatti at the Best Starring Couple category with the excellent ‘The Miracle Men’. He was nominated again with Ben Stiller for ‘Coen & Warshinski’. He has worked with almost all the others top comedians: Carell (‘Lit.USA’, ‘No More Bush!’), Stiller (‘Eureka!’, ‘Coen & Warshinski’), Braff (‘Lit. USA’, ‘Schroedinger’s Litterbox’), Black (‘Lit.USA’, ‘Borgel’) and Murphy (‘Ultraman’s Revenge’)
Latest works: Box office has not treated him well lately. His two latest movies for the Studio, ‘Comedy Wars’ and ‘Coen & Warshinski’, made both less than 40 millions.
Future: He will try to return to box office’s success being Browse in the upcoming ‘Mario’.
5.JACK BLACK

CMP’s Career: Far from the success of Stiller, Carell and Braff, Black still can be considered as a popular comedian in CMP. In fact, he is the only one in the group to have won a Best Actor Golden Moon Award: it was in Season 7 for playing a porn movies director in ‘Life and Facts of a Dirty Mind’. 3 out of his 10 movies in CMP have made more than 100 millions. He was also a member of the Lieutenant USA’s gang.
Latest works: A funny and grumpy garden dwarf in ‘Fantasy World’. He was digitally manipulated to look small.
Future: He seems condemned lately to play only supporting roles in CMP. There are rumors that he might be in ‘Mario’.
6.EDDIE MURPHY

CMP’s Career: Not as popular and demanded in CMP like the rest, Murphy still can show an interesting filmography in the Studio. The most remarkable things is that the 6 films he has made in CMP all of them have made net gains. And ‘The Revengers’ made more than 200 millions of net gains.
Latest works: The successful ‘The Revengers’, a parody of The Avengers where he played his best known character in CMP, the clumsy superhero Ultraman. Also, a ‘serious’ work in the acclaimed Clint Eastwood’s film ‘A Jazz Tale’. And a voice-only cameo as Shrek’s Donkey in ‘Fantasy World’.
Future: A sequel of ‘The Revengers’ is being considered by Steve Connors. His future seems attached to the character of Ultraman and Steve Connors as he is not a very demanded talent by other CMP’s authors.

It has taken Jennifer Aniston long to become a successful star in CMP’s world. But finally she seems to be working more regularly for the Studio with movies like ‘Queens’ and this week’s release ‘Family Reunion’. So, as ‘Premiere’ magazine says in its cover, her career in CMP is ‘just like starting over’. In this new issue, ‘Premiere’ also interviews Colin Farell, the official killer of CMP’s world due to his works in the ‘Hitman’ and ‘Assassin’s Creed’ sagas and now ‘Midnight’.

‘Metroid’ was one of the blockbusters of CMP’s Season 15. It made 279 millions at box office (alltimes top 5) and net gains of 406 millions (alltimes top 4). The movie was written by Josh Collins

Is D.R.Cobb trying to get into the Guinness Book Of Records as the most active screenwriter ever? It seems so. According to my CMP’s sources, Cobb is writing on average two or three screenplays per week. That means that CMP already has something like 30 screenplays or maybe more written by him at the waiting list. If I do a quick calculation, that means also that CMP will still be releasing Cobb’s stories for sure in three or four years time…
And among all those screenplays, there’s one I want to highlight. Now that ‘The Avengers’ saga is

CMP releases this week on DVD market only ‘Demon Hunter’, the first animated movie developed by ‘Midnight Movies The Edge’. Matt Kubrick is behind this initiative that pretends to focus on producing adult audiences oriented animated films. I am confused. What’s the sense of it? Looking at the promising presentation of ‘Demon Hunter’, I wonder why Kubrick has decided to limit its release to DVD market. It looks much more interesting than many CMP’s movies released on theatres!
And I end up this week announcing a nice reunion. James Bradley and Jason Reitman went through a more than satisfactory experience past
