THE 14th GOLDEN MOON AWARDS CEREMONY

THE LOCATION

Los Angeles is again the location chosen for the Golden Moon Awards Ceremony. The Shrine Auditorium is ready to be the host again for this splendorous night. Everything’s ready: the red carpet, the limousines bringing up the stars, media from all over the world and the hundreds of fans waiting to welcome their idols.

THE RED CARPET

Lots of familiar faces of CMP’s world walk down the red carpet attending to the media and the fans. Here we have some of them: GMA Winner Keira Knightley, seen this Season in the sci-fi blockbuster ‘New World’; also from ‘New World’, Josh Holloway; the star from movies like ‘The Miracle Men’ or ‘Out Partying’, Emma Stone, who is expected to be seen in some releases of the upcoming Season; Keri Russell, lead star of the upcoming CMP’s production ‘Daniel’; and Robert Rodriguez, who has succeeded this Season with ‘Hell Night’, together with his girlfriend, the Avenger Rose McGowan.

THE CEREMONY

(Italics = Off voice)

As the lights inside the auditorium turn off, a giant screen on stage shows a clip with images of this Season’s 30 movies released. The clip ends with a short cut of Gerard Butler in ‘New World’ whispering ‘This is absolutely incredible…’

Ladies and Gentlemen, the star from ‘Guitar Hero’, Michael Cera!

Michael Cera steps out to the stage.

MC: Surprise, surprise! No, I’m not Will Ferrell. And no, I’m not Ben Stiller neither. I am that guy that every CMP’s author cast each time they want to make a bad movie…

I loved to be in ‘Guitar Hero’. Miley, Selena… oh, what a cast… We wanted to have the Jonas Brothers too in the movie. It was a shame they could not join us. But they were busy shooting ‘Camp Rock 3: Now We Are Really Learning To Sing’…

Anyway... I don’t want to be picky but... *in a picky way*... I just want to remind that ‘Guitar Hero’ made higher net gains than the two main candidates of tonight’s ceremony, ‘A Jazz Tale’ and ‘Metropolis’... Just a comment, you know...

Well, lot of important people here tonight. There’s Natalie Portman. Hi, Natalie! Wow! You are all dressed up tonight! But hey... *with a naughty voice*... now it’s so easy to imagine you… Good luck, Natalie!

George Clooney is here too. Hey, George! You know, I have a question: what kind of parents would name their sweet baby born ‘Asterios’? I mean, I can’t imagine the dad saying to the happy mum: ‘You know, honey, having ‘Polyp’ as family name is not enough disgrace, so we are calling our baby ‘Asterios’. That way, we will definitely ruin his popularity at High School…’ And then how will their friends and family call him? ‘Ass’?

Russell Crowe, ladies and gentlemen! My cast mate in the upcoming ‘Turn Of A Friendly Card’. My first good movie for CMP! And God bless you for that, Richard Franzwa. Hey, Russell, I was wondering if we could make a pause in tonight’s ceremony and you should come up here and explain us all the plot of ‘The Dark Tower’… The fifth movie is coming up and still we don’t know what the hell is going on there…

I can see you from here, Olivia! Isn’t she so sexy? Olivia Wilde, please, tell me you love me! In so many ways, Olivia is like my opposite. Movie critics love everything she does in CMP as much as they hate everything I do. You, movie critics! You should show more respect... I have a career out of CMP too, you know… I have been in some contemporary classics like… er… like… Well, I was in ‘Year One’!

Two big shots sitting there: Mr. Clint Eastwood and Mr. Steven Spielberg! What a duel! Mr. Brett Ratner, I’ll pay you a drink at the bar while the Best Director award is announced...

And Emile Hirsh… Third GMA Edition in a row being nominated! I wonder how much do you pay Joey Stark for those wonderful screenplays he writes for you. No doubt, I didn’t pay Josh Collins that much cause all I got from him was ‘Lyin’ Wish’…

You know, Emile? Harry Stark offered me to star ‘A Jazz Tale’ before you. He called me and asked me what did I prefer: playing a trumpet or a guitar? I asked my agent and he told me: ‘A trumpet? No way! Go for the guitar!’ Well, you know the rest of the story... And my new agent knows it too.

Ok, great people here together tonight! A wonderful ceremony coming up! Take your seats and enjoy the show cause it’s the Golden Moon Awards Ceremony!

BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN

Please welcome two stars that have succeeded this Season: from ‘Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia’ and returning soon to CMP starring ‘What You Deserve’, Carrie- Ann Moss; and from ‘Innerturmoil’, Damian Lewis!

D.L.: Wow! It’s such a thrill being here. This is going to be a great night!

C-A.M.: Season 14 has been quite a quality Season in terms of creativity, acting talent and worthy movies. And also in terms of production design.

D.L.: Right. After more than 400 movies released, CMP’s Production Design Department keeps surprising us with their wonderful talent.

C-A.M.: This Season’s nominees for Best Production Design are...

INVASION
THE ORPHANAGE
THE RESURRECTED

And the Golden Moon goes to...

THE ORPHANAGE

Billy Saunders, responsible of the Production Design of the movie, takes the statue: ‘It was so challenging to transmit all the intriguing atmosphere of this movie from its very first image. But I have the feeling we made a good job and that’s why I am here tonight on behalf of all my team at CMP. Thank you!’

MOST WANTED SEQUEL

Two young stars have made a big impression on audiences this Season. She is the lovely and unforgettable Sunshine of ‘Sunshine On Lonely Street. He went through hard times in ‘Invasion’ and will be back soon starring the Marc Webb’s comedy ‘Based On Real Life’: Abbie Cornish and Topher Grace!

A.C.: I just can’t believe I made my debut in CMP only a few weeks ago and now I already feel as part of the CMP’s family being here tonight.

T.G.: Oh, Abbie, I’ll tell you how this goes... You are not definitely part of CMP’s family until you play one of the Studio’s superheroes... That’s what the guys at CMP make their living from.

A.C.: Oh, come on, Topher... There’s more than superheroes in CMP. Look at tonight’s nominees for Most Wanted Sequel. No superheroes at all!

T.G.: I just hope ‘Invasion’ wins. That would guarantee me another well paid job... Well, nominees for the Most Wanted Sequel award are...

INVASION
STAR WARS: HOLOCRON INITIATIVE
THE RESURRECTED

And yeah! The winner is...

INVASION

Sam Richards, Executive Producer of the movie, takes the award: ‘’Invasion’ was probably one of the most complex productions ever developed by CMP. Everybody involved worked very hard and it seems like now you want to make us work hard again in a sequel. Well, I promise we will! Congratulations Brett Ratner, Steve Connors and James Cameron cause this award is yours!’

BEST ORIGINAL CONCEPT

He has always been one of the most active stars in CMP. After a rest, he returned this Season to the Studio playing a mysterious character in the Ridley Scott’s movie ‘New World’. The two times GMA nominee, Sir Patrick Stewart!

P.S.: Yes, I had to take a rest before everybody started to say: ‘oh, no, here he is back again’. But I am so happy to be back with that wonderful saga created by my good friends John Daws and Ridley and Tony Scott. ‘New World’ is probably one of the best original concepts developed at CMP for a very long time. So be ready for the upcoming sequels because I promise to you that you are really going to enjoy them. But we have other great original concepts nominees tonight. The three of them are…

A JAZZ TALE
NEW WORLD
REBEL

And the Golden Moon goes to…

REBEL

Winston Claypool, producer of the movie, steps up to the stage to take the award: ‘’Rebel’ is one of those movies you feel proud to be involved in no matter if it succeeds at box office or if it wins awards or not. The drama of children soldiers is a terrible and painful reality. We cannot feel comfortable as long as a cruelty like that still exists in this presumed modern civilization we live in. I just hope our movie helped to denounce this drama and to make people and Governments conscious of it. Thank you very much.’

BEST ADAPTATION

They are involved into two highly interesting and very different kind of adaptations. He made a wonderful acting work this Season resurrecting a young Elvis Presley in ‘Graceland’. She will travel to past again soon in the upcoming ‘Assassin’s Creed II’: Anne Hathaway and Ben Affleck!

A.H.: Ben, I loved the work you made in ‘Graceland’. I have the feeling I do have Elvis by my side right now.

B.A.: Well, thanks, Anne. I have the feeling I have an assassin by my side now…

A.H.: Three very interesting adaptations are nominee tonight. They come from three very different sources: a comic novel, a series of books and a Cinema classic from the 1920s…

B.A.: Right. And they are all three great movies. Nominees for Best Adaptation are…

ASTERIOS POLYP
FLASHMAN’S DESTINY
METROPOLIS

And the Golden Moon goes to…

METROPOLIS

Susan Carson, executive producer of the movie, takes the award: ‘Steven Spielberg and Richard Franzwa have made a visionary movie remaking a film from the past. That may sound contradictory but that’s part of the wonderful achievement that this new ‘Metropolis’ is. It is the reunion of Spielberg and Franzwa’s talent what has made possible this fantastic movie and that’s why I want to dedicate this award to them.’

BEST CAST

They both have made a great debut in CMP this Season. And we can be sure that will only be the beginning of a long career in the Studio. From ‘Earth 3k2’, Taylor Scout-Compton and, from ‘Sunshine On Lonely Street’, Adam Brody!

T. S-C.: As Abbie just said, it is great to have joined the big family of CMP!

A.B.: Yeah. Being part of the cast of a CMP’s movie is like climbing another step in an actor’s career.

T.S-C.: Now, writers, directors and producers, just remember that we are available to take the next step…

A.B.: Right. Nominees for the Best Cast award are…

A JAZZ TALE
FLASHMAN’S DESTINY
METROPOLIS

And the winner is…

A JAZZ TALE

Andrew Styne, Casting Director of the movie, is the one to take the award: ‘It is not easy to make a movie when you put together as many big Hollywood’s stars as this cast had. But I must say that all of them made their job not only with talent but also with humility, dedication and a great team spirit. So I am very happy that all the wonderful actors and actresses seen in the movie get now this common recognition. Congratulations to you all!’

Let’s go with the first music performance of the night. She won’t be singing jazz tonight but one of her greatest songs, her hit ‘The Way That I Love You’. Ladies and Gentlemen, from ‘A Jazz Tale’, Ashanti!

BEST VILLAIN

Let me introduce you one of the upcoming new stars of CMP’s world. He will face a big challenge next Season playing no other than Superman in James Mangold’s ‘Superman: Last Son’. And he is here tonight with a star to be seen soon again playing the violent character she already played in ‘Reform School Girls’ in the sequel ‘Vixen’. Henry Cavill and Michelle Rodriguez!

H.C.: You know… I’m nervous, Michelle. I am here tonight but if ‘Superman: Last Son’ does not work, I will probably have to hide in Krypton to run away from critics and Superman’s fans…

M.R.: *laughs* Don’t worry. Look at me. My career not only survived to ‘Reform School Girls’ but I am even making a sequel of it now. You just never know… I am sure that you will make a wonderful Superman.

H.C.: Fingers crossed! Well, just in case, I will enjoy this moment without further thoughts…

M.R.: That’s the spirit… Nominees for Best Villain are…

IDRIS ELBA – Rebel
MARION COTILLARD – Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia
PAUL GIAMATTI – Graceland

And the Best Villain award goes to…

IDRIS ELBA
REBEL

Idris Elba steps up to the stage, kisses Michelle and holds the statue: ‘Oh, man… This is just a thrill! Thank you Dawson Edwards for writing such a story so needed to be told. Thank you Albert and Allen Hughes for making this great movie. We are in the 21st Century. We cannot let things like the ones told in the movie still happening in our world. Please, never forget the story told in ‘Rebel’! It’s really happening!’ *standing ovation*

BEST STARRING COUPLE

She has turned into a regular presence in CMP. This Season, we saw her in ‘One Night Stand’. Next Season, we’ll see her again in the upcoming espionage thriller ‘Game Of Truth’. It’s Olivia Wilde!

O.W.: Michael Cera, I do love you… *laughs* Well, here’s again the Best Sarring Couple award. And, you know, it is funny how actresses are disappearing of this category lately. This Season, there’s only one woman among the six talents nominees at this category. It’s a man’s world at CMP. You, CMP’s screenwriters, use your brains! Create more female characters! And, once said so, let’s go with the nominees…

BEN MCKENZIE & RYAN GOSLING – Hallelujah
JOHN GOODMAN & TIM ROTH – Sam & Twitch 2
NATALIE PORTMAN & JUDE LAW – Secret Sins

And the winners are…

BEN MCKENZIE AND RYAN GOSLING
HALLELUJAH

The winning couple steps up to the stage. McKenzie: ‘Thank you very much, Chad Taylor, Trent Nielsen and Danny Boyle! You made it possible and easy!’ Gosling: ‘Congratulations to John Goodman, Tim Roth, Natalie Portman and Jude Law for their wonderful works. And thank you all! The Force be with all of you!’

BEST SCREENPLAY

Two big heroes from futuristic worlds are here together tonight. From ‘Invasion’, we have Viggo Mortensen. And from ‘Star Wars: Holocron Initiative’, we have Famke Janssen.

F.J.: We have a friends’ reunion at this category. Mr. Edwards, Mr. Kubrick and Mr. Stark were all of them nominated past Edition at this category. So, guys, you already know what all this is about…

V.M.: Yeah, and please, next Edition make some room for other CMP’s writers before they get depressed…

F.J.: Three great and very different stories were written by these three great writers. Best screenplays nominees are…

DAWSON EDWARDS – Rebel
JOEY STARK – A Jazz Tale
MATT KUBRICK: Jack Vance: A True Hollywood Story

And congratulations to…

JOEY STARK
A JAZZ TALE

Joey Stark steps up to the stage: ‘Matt, Dawson… I am your number one fan! See you back here next Edition! I grew up loving movies like ‘A Jazz Tale’. Movies about tough guys, gunfights at backstreets and beautiful women singing on stage… I just wanted to write one of those myself. It was great having the chance of working with somebody I admire as much as Clint Eastwood and with all the wonderful stars in the movie. This is my happiest moment since I begun writing for CMP. Thank you all for making it possible!’

And now, before we get into the acting awards, let’s relax with some more music. Coming directing from ‘Guitar Hero’, here is Miley Cyrus singing her latest hit ‘Can’t be thamed’!

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS

To present the supporting acting awards, we have two winners of these categories. She won the Best Supporting Actress award back in Season 2 with ‘Cathedral’ and soon will be back in CMP starring ‘Metroid’. He won past Season the Best Supporting Actor award for ‘The Amazing Adventures Of Kavalier and Clay’ and will also be back next Season with a brand new movie. Charlize Theron and James Franco!

J.F.: The off-voice forgot to mention that I’m coming back with the new movie directed by Martin Scorsese for CMP! And I’m so proud of it!

C.T.: Ok, let’s begin with the girls… Three great actresses shined in their movies and very much deserve to be here tonight. And they are…

DAKOTA FANNING – Prison Letters
KERRY WASHINGTON – A Jazz Tale
NATALIE PORTMAN – Metropolis

And the Best Supporting Actress award goes to…

NATALIE PORTMAN
METROPOLIS

Natalie Portman takes her statue looking so moved: ‘Thank you… This was a hard night for me and now I can relax… I just couldn’t stop imagining myself going back home with no statue after the three nominations… I am not a good actress in real life situations so I was just watching me crying in some corner of the auditorium… Thank you for saving me from that embarrassment. And thank you Steven Spielberg and Richard Franzwa for thinking of me to be in your wonderful movie. ‘Metropolis’ is one of those movies that light up an acting career. I was so honored for being part of it!’

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

C.T.: Did the off-voice mention that ‘Metroid’ is directed by Zack Snyder and that we expect it to be a smash hit?

J.F.: Ok, Charlize, we both made our own advertisements… See you all at the theatres!

C.T.: And, in the meantime, let’s go with the supporting roles. A convict, a cheated husband and an innocent father…

J.F.: Three great roles for three great actors. Nominees for Best Supporting Actor are…

BILLY CUDRUP – That’s The Way
HARVEY KEITEL – Fictitious Images
JAKE GYLLENHAAL – Prison Letters

And the winner is…

JAKE GYLLENHAAL
PRISON LETTERS

Gyllenhaal literally jumped up to the stage: ‘This is a great night! You know, Natalie and I won together the Best Starring Couple award some Seasons ago with ‘Flashes Of Life’. So it feels so great to be back together with her! ‘Prison Letters’ was a wonderful experience. I loved Josh Collins’ screenplay since the very first moment I read it. And working with Francis Coppolla was a dream come true. The movie has been such a rewarding experience and this award makes it all even better. Thank you!’

BEST ACTRESS

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have two superheroes here with us tonight to present the awards for leading roles. They have starred the two most successful movies of the Season. And, of course, they are Cobie ‘Wonder Woman’ Smulders and Joshua ‘The Flash’ Jackson.

J.J.: So, Cobie, are you ready for ‘Justice League 2’?

C.S.: I am and I am so happy that it will be released this new Season. I love to play Wonder Woman… even if playing superheroes will never make us win a Golden Moon.

J.J.: Well, you know, they have the awards, we have the box office’s success…

C.S.: Nominees for Best Actress are…

JULIA ROBERTS – The Orphanage
KATE WINSLET – Alice
NATALIE PORTMAN – Secret Sins

And the Golden Moon goes to…

KATE WINSLET
ALICE

Kate Winslet takes her statue: ‘You know I have to thank this award first of all to James Bradley. He has always trusted me to play his wonderful female characters. Congratulations to Julia and Natalie for her great works that keep alive the importance of female roles in CMP. Alice was a complex character and a big challenge and I am so grateful for having the chance to play it. This is a very special award for me and it’s my pleasure to share it with all of you. Thank you!’

BEST ACTOR

C.S.: Well, Joshua, let’s move to the actors. But first, Joshua, I want to wish you good look with your upcoming release ‘What You Deserve’.

J.J.: Thanks, Cobie. It’s going to be a busy and thrilling Season for me…

C.S.: Maybe we’ll see you here as a Best Actor nominee at the end of it… Meanwhile, we already have three talented actors nominees tonight…

J.J.: A trumpet player, an architect and a guy leading with alternative realities… Nominees for Best Actor are…

EMILE HIRSH – A Jazz Tale
GEORGE CLOONEY – Asterios Polyp
NEIL PATRICK HARRIS – Jack Vance: A True Hollywood Story

And we have a winner…

GEORGE CLOONEY
ASTERIOS POLYP

Clooney steps up to the stage and hugs Jackson and Cobie. ‘Spike Jonze and Dawson Edwards, I love you. I love you because you thought of me to play a great character like Asterios Polyp. I owe you this award. I would have paid to play it so this award is more than generous. I want to remember now all the great cast of the movie, specially the beautiful and talented Gong Li. Also, Kathy Bates, John Goodman and Danny DeVito. Guys, it was such a pleasure working with you. Thank you all!’

BEST DIRECTOR

She had a busy Season working in two successful movies, ‘Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia’ and ‘Flashman’s Destiny’. He is going to star one of the first releases of the Season, ‘Turn Of A Friendly Card’. And we’ll see him too next Season in the new installment of ‘The Dark Tower’ saga. Ladies and Gentlemen, GMA Winners Catherine Z. Jones and Russell Crowe!

C.Z.J.: Here we are at probably the most difficult category to vote for. The works made by Ratner, Spielberg and Eastwood proved them to be three masters in moviemaking.

R.C.: You know that we frequently hear at awards ceremonies the usual ‘all of them deserve the award’. But this time it is more true than ever.

C.Z.J.: But CMP only paid for one statue at this category… so a choice had to be made.

R.C.: Nominees for Best Director are…

BRETT RATNER – Invasion
CLINT EASTWOOD – A Jazz Tale
STEVEN SPIELBERG – Metropolis

And the Golden Moon goes to…

STEVEN SPIELBERG
METROPOLIS

Spielberg takes the award on stage: ‘Considering the wonderful directional jobs of Brett Ratner and Clint Eastwood, it is almost embarrassing to be up here… I had always loved the original ‘Metropolis’ directed by Fritz Lang, so when Richard Franzwa offered me to direct his remake I was pretty scared. I never thought of making a better movie than the original one. I just wanted to make a good movie. And I think I could finally make it thanks to the brilliant screenplay written by Richard Franzwa and the wonderful work of all the cast and the crew of the movie. Congratulations to all of you for such an amazing work!’

BEST PICTURE

This 14th Season also had its sad side. It was the Season when one of the most popular CMP’s sagas reached its end: the adventures of Harry Flashman. After five great movies, Flashman decided to rest. But to honor that wonderful series of movies, here is tonight Harry Flashman himself: Rupert Everett!

R.E.: Good night. I am a 51 years old British actor. I have a decent acting career. And yes, I admit it, I have made a movie with Madonna… I can play a believable gay but also a correct womanizer. I was in ‘Silent Hill’ and I have played Harry Flashman in five movies. But now that this franchise is over, I am unemployed. So, CMP’s authors, I need a job… *big laughs and applause* Oh, well, now seriously, I’m glad Flashman’s movies are over… I was exhausted and bored of playing all those sex scenes with the most beautiful women in the world… I’m sure you would be too… *big laughs* Now, let’ see… What am I here for? Oh, yes… We have three movies nominees for the Best Picture award. They are not very good movies but we just couldn’t find anything better to nominee… *big laughs* And those movies are…

A JAZZ TALE
METROPOLIS
THE RESURRECTED

And the Best Picture of CMP’s Season 14 is…

METROPOLIS

Spielberg, as producer of the movie, returns to the stage: ‘Past edition, I was here with ‘The Amazing Adventures Of Kavalier and Clay’. Now I’m back with ‘Metropolis’. You are too generous… Richard Franzwa, this award is for you. You had the vision, you had the faith and now you deserve this award!’
